  1. 0:01 Welcome to Getting Started with Paperclip and I'm Dota, your host and the creator of Paperclip.
  2. 0:07 And I'm so excited to show you how to get started with this brand new open source agent orchestrator.
  3. 0:15 I'm going to walk you through your first steps of how to get Paperclip started, what it looks like when you have a huge organization and some of my best advanced tips for working with AI agents.
  4. 0:27 And so you can create your own
  5. 0:30 uh zero human company now the tagline that we have for paperclip is that it's for open source orchestration for zero human companies you can hire employees set goals automate jobs your business can nearly run itself well you know maybe that's a bit of a headline i would say that paperclip is the human control plane for ai labor
  6. 0:53 Really the idea behind Paperclip is that you're able to set up an org chart of agents where you can manage them all and invoke your taste in what these agents, how they work.
  7. 1:08 and have them complete real work so let me walk you through a little bit how how to get started the first thing you do is you should just open up your terminal and run npx paperclip ai on board you can pass dash js if you want the default options but
  8. 1:24 Let me talk about what is Paperclip.
  9. 1:27 Paperclip is a way that you can accomplish real work that you are accountable for using AI agents.
  10. 1:37 Maybe you've seen tools where they have you create a task and then it automatically creates a business for you.
  11. 1:45 With Paperclip, you actually are involved in the steps to have your preferences
  12. 1:53 accounted for and you were involved in the task process from the higher level design all the way to actually executing.
  13. 2:04 So what I'm going to do here actually is I'm going to show you
  14. 2:08 This is the real instance that I use to manage Paperclip itself.
  15. 2:13 And I'm going to walk you through a little bit this kind of finished product, and then we'll start a brand new company, and I'll show you how you can do it on your own.
  16. 2:20 So this is the company that I use to manage Paperclip itself.
  17. 2:23 You've got here the CEO, who's the man in charge.
  18. 2:26 We've got a CTO, and under him he has quite a lot of coders.
  19. 2:31 I would say that the two coders that I use the most would be the Codex coder as well as the Cloud coder.
  20. 2:38 And an important thing about Paperclip is that you bring your own agent.
  21. 2:43 So you can use Gemini, you can use Pi, you can use Hermes, you can use OpenClaw.
  22. 2:48 A key part of Paperclip is that any agent that you want to use can be brought into Paperclip as a employee, and then it can sort of negotiate and communicate and have its memory stored with the rest of Paperclip.
  23. 3:05 If you look over here for a quick example, we've got our marketing organization.
  24. 3:09 And one of the things that we have here under the CMOs, content strategists, and also a video writer.
  25. 3:16 Now, we have been super thankful with how quickly Paperclip has grown.
  26. 3:20 We actually crossed this week 40,000 GitHub stars, which I was stoked about.
  27. 3:26 And it's really through kind of the contributions of the whole community.
  28. 3:30 Probably by the time you're watching this, we've already crossed 50,000 stars.
  29. 3:34 Now, normally what I would do is I would actually just publish a tweet or at most a screenshot celebrating 40,000 stars and call it a day.
  30. 3:42 But I realized, you know, I wonder if I can use paperclip to accelerate this process.
  31. 3:46 And so what I did is I came in here and I created a new issue.
  32. 3:50 and I assign it to my CEO.
  33. 3:52 The idea behind Paperclip is that you are the CEO and you are working, you are basically giving your CEO instructions and then your CEO is designed to break down the tasks to your executive branch and then down to the individual contributors.
  34. 4:12 So one of the things that I did is I asked the CEO, please hire a video writer and have them write a re-motion video celebrating 40,000 stars.
  35. 4:29 So here's the thing.
  36. 4:32 Every piece of the Paperclip app has an agentic surface.
  37. 4:37 So your CEO knows how to hire new agents.
  38. 4:40 They know how to install new skills.
  39. 4:42 There is a skills manager built into Paperclip.
  40. 4:45 So for example, I'm sure you've seen skills.sh.
  41. 4:49 From there, we would install the Remotion Best Practices skill.
  42. 4:53 The CEO knows how to find this and do this.
  43. 4:56 And ReMotion, if you don't know, is an open-source React... Actually, I don't know if it's React-based.
  44. 5:02 It's an open-source tool that you can use for creating videos.
  45. 5:06 You don't need to sign up for anything.
  46. 5:08 The CEO hired our video writer agent and gave her the ReMotion best practices skill.
  47. 5:16 Yeah, video creation in React.
  48. 5:18 And from there, I was able to create a prompt to say, plan this video for the stats dashboard.
  49. 5:23 So I say, go look at the dashboard.
  50. 5:25 We're at mentioning another project that we already have.
